MARIO MANIA!

So a couple weeks ago Mario Lopez was in town for a meet and greet with his super fans, and I had the pleasure of meeting him! He was very friendly, said my name with a latino accent *DIES*, and smelled heavenly. So what? He is gorgeous and his dimples are completely adorable :)

Finals week.....

So the infamous "dead week" (the week before finals" is over and I am completely relieved. It was full of stressful studies, papers, deadlines and much much more. With finals just right around the corner it is very important to stay focused, stay hydrated and get your rest!! Thankfully I only have one final next week but I had two very long papers due this past week. Now I need to focus and stay focused to be successful for the final to come... and then... WINTER BREAK!!!
Here are a few tips I have for the study ravaged students who are worried about finals week:)

STAY HYDRATED!

Utilize the library.... seriously sometimes we forget about the
wonderful resources the library provides. I find the private study rooms
in the Seattle University Lemieux Library extraordinarily useful.

exercise!

get  your rest!

set your alarm!

eat breakfast!

and most importantly....
grab a Starbucks!!

Obsessed with Butter London.

3 Free Butter London nail polish.
I am in love with Butter London's collection at Nordstrom, the colors are high pigment, fun and to die for!

A Betsey Affair.

Every day in the beautiful Emerald City is a fabulous day. What can make it even more fabulous? Meeting Betsey Johnson at the downtown Seattle Nordstrom for the launch of her new line. My roommate and best friend Karli and I finished up our homework and headed for downtown and went straight up to the T.B.D. for a meet and greet with the iconic Betsey Johnson! She hugged us and was SO sweet! I love my new home.

Snail Mail.

We are all guilty of it, the snubbing of traditional letting writing practices by constantly BBMing, texting, Skyping,  and emailing on our Blackberry's. Testing out the waters of college can get a bit lonely at times and it made me realize how grateful I am for today's technology but a bit nostalgic when I came to think about what my parents did in order to keep in touch while my dad lived in Mexico and Mom on Whidbey Island. For quite the many months they kept in touch by daily letter writing and the exciting anticipation of what the next letter might enclose. Even though there are much quicker, face to face ways of connecting with people you miss, such as Skype, the handwritten, self sealed letter brings a much more personalized experience. A few days ago I mailed my first letter (of the college year that is) with a colorful bit of stationary I knew I would personally light up if I received. I always enjoy the precious stationary sets you can buy at Papyrus, it is fun and anyone would die for it! I have not gotten any mail yet this school year.... (hint hint sissy) but I'm looking forward to the reply from whom I sent a letter to. On top of the fact that letters are more personal they make for great keepsakes you can look back at after a few years and you'll smile because you have it.

Are you there Blackberry? It's me Katia.

Recently my Raspberry (red blackberry) decided to die on me and I had to survive a day at Seattle University without my best friend Blackberry. It was a complete DISASTER but luckily I went and quickly got a new one. Just thought I'd give a shout out to the one that is always there for me no matter WHAT..... oh yeah aside from my great sister ;)

I'm back!

Finally after about two weeks of scurrying around trying to figure out how to settle in at Seattle University I have found my zen and I can start back to my blogging :) Let's start from square one, move in day. Let's just say it was chaotic, hot, confusing, crowded, scary/exciting and a little sad. I woke up got ready (we pre-packed the night before, which I highly recommend, it saves you a TON of stress of fitting your LIFE in the car five minutes before you need to leave) made a pit stop at Starbucks for a Grande Soy Toffee Mocha (of course) and headed north toward Seattle with my incredible sister, Mollie.  Once we arrived to campus they had security and OA's directing us on where to go and bring our things, very chaotic that's why I recommend wearing comfortable clothes and shoes on move in day. On top of waiting around twenty five minutes for each elevator I locked the keys in the car (oops!) so it also helps to have AAA's number on speed dial. Personally, I do not pack light so it also helps to bring storage tubs for under your bed. Since move in day living in Seattle has really opened my eyes to all the possibilities life has waiting for me, and I am SO excited to start writing a new chapter to my story on Capitol Hill! Thats the Gist of my past couple weeks, here are a few pictures of what my new life looks like....

Saw this pillow, and decided I want it.

Colorful storage tubs are a must have.

Organic cotton sheets (high thread count the better!)

Decoration idea I have for my wall.
(we cannot put tack/nails in the walls)

Vitamins are completely necessary,
missing class is not an option.

The view of the beautiful Emerald City from my room :)

Currently craving...

Les Khakis de Chanel.

Mrs. Zoe posted a picture on her twitter of her brilliant nail polish collection, including Les Khakis de Chanel. It must have been love at first sight because I headed directly to the nearest mall and purchased every color. Love, Love. Have you gotten yours yet?

Why I DIE for Fall fashion.

Don't get me wrong, I live for the summer dresses, acid wash shorts and gladiator sandals- but when it comes to Fall fashion, the possibilities are limitless; hence the reason I DIE for it.

The black lace dress.
Lace up booties.

Tights! Tights! Tights!

The Military Jacket.

Note to self: Katia you should probably think, "textbooks and cup of noodle!" and a little less clothes.

Katia starts college in two weeks, say what?

Four years of high school at Curtis, too many memories for my iPhoto to handle, six tubes of blue and white war paint (for football games basketball games etc.) a few AP classes later and I'm just two weeks away from embarking my four years at Seattle University. I've spent my summer between road trips with my sister, Mollie, standing on top of Multnomah Falls, and savoring the last bit of time I had left as a carefree 18 year old with my best friends from high school. Although I know I am going to miss the close knit community I was a part of in high school, I know opening the doors at university will just be just as excited if not even more incredible! So just some last minute dorm, wardrobe and supply shopping to go and I'm just about ready to call myself a Seattle University Redhawk. I'd like to point out some of the essentials a girl can't survive without as a college student in the beautiful Emerald City, so here you go!

the Trench Coat.
(Kim Kardashian compliments her trench with her Kelly bag)

the perfect umbrella.
(purple of course for me- it's my favorite color)

the perfect lighting.
(as Hannah would say)

a knit scarf- for those cold Seattle days.

and a daytimer to sort those endless college days:)
(note to self... try to resist from over doodling)

xoxo Katia
